PLEASE NOTE: All Spaza Shops, vendors, and informal traders must register with the municipality from 15 November 2024 until 13 December 2024. The deadline is 13 December 2024.
Below are the documents applicants need to bring to Brister House’s ground floor, 191 Govan Mbeki St, Central, Gqeberha. There are three tables to assist applicants, but they must have all the documents before processing can begin.

A) Formal Food Handling Premises (Including Spaza Shops)
Required Documents:
- Zoning Certificate / Special Consent Approval – (Obtained from Town Planning)
- Waste Removal Services – (Municipal Account Bill or Private Services Provider’s Contract / Invoice)
- Pest Control Services – (Service Provider’s contract / Invoice) provide treatment report.
- Food Safety Training Certificate
- Fire Safety Certificate – (Gas users only)

B) Informal Food Handling Premises (Hawkers)

- CBD Permit – Nelson Mandela Development Agency
- ID Photos x2
- Food Safety Training Certificate

C) Re-issue of a Certificate of Acceptability
Required Documents:
- Formal Food Handling Premises (Including Spaza Shops) – Same as above.
- Informal Food Handling Premises (Hawkers) – Same as above.
